Career History

Director Joe Stopps Music / Laniakea Ltd 2015 – present (owner) & Friars Management Ltd 2000- present (co-owner)

A leading booking agent and management consultant advising established and emerging artists on all aspects of their careers. I work with artists to strategise their live, recording and song writing careers. Recent successes includes managing new album releases with corresponding tours and promotional campaigns for Howard Jones, Tom Bailey and Nick Heyward, all of which enjoyed successful chart success in the UK album charts. As a agent I have also organised successful sell out tours for several other artists , including Kim Wilde and in 2019 curated The Electric Dreams festival for Bourne Leisure. In addition I also help musicians collect monies they are owed through the management of their royalties and Neighbouring Rights.

I have created opportunities and negotiated synchronisation licensees for music in films, games, TV shows and with major brands. A example is a music license for a song by Katy Perry on the recent global H&M Christmas TV Campaign.

I strategically manage the artists brand across all social media and fan communication and all aspects of their marketing which included both B2B and B2C. I have also consulted on various music projects for companies such as 20th Century Fox.

A case study of that we do is the work we have done for Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey. Tom had not performed Thompson Twins hits since the late 80’s. We negotiated numerous headline festival slots across the globe and working with him built a live show which won live show of the year in Classic Pop magazine. In addition we have released new material. We have also created merchandise lines, online retail outlets and built a database and fan community.

Licensing & Business Affairs Manager Replay Heaven 2005 – present

I am the licensing and business affairs manager for Replay Heaven, a music production company specialising in sample replays based in the Old Hit Factory Studio in London Bridge. I have nurtured commercial relationships with an extensive client list and our recordings are featured on releases by The Black Eyed Peas, David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Nas, Cee Lo Green, Kanye West, Dizee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder, Sigma, Avicii , Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, The XX & The Chemical Brothers to name a few. Our productions have featured on over 1500 recordings with numerous top 10 and number 1 singles and albums.

Director MofoHifi Records and Publishing 2005- present

MofoHifi releases eclectic electronica, it’s brand being ‘electro-funkin-disco-breaking’. The label is well respected for developing artists as diverse as The Young Punx, Phonat, Bobby Tank and Alizzz.

Promoter 2009 – present

We have promoted shows for Paul Weller, The Specials, Marillion, Howard Jones and many more. We promote shows at venues such as indig02, Shepherds Bush Empire & Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. I have also co promoted shows in North America. I curated the Electric Dreams Festival for Bourne Leisure in 2019.

Dtox Records 2000 – present

Dtox records is owned by Howard Jones and I managed the company from 2000 – 2014 and now work as a consultant. We pioneered the direct ‘artist to fan’ relationship and were the first to ever offer a CD recording of the concert the fan had just witnessed at the end of the show. We also pioneered personalised luxury editions of albums, which have now become common place in campaigns on PledgeMusic and Kickstarter. Dtox has been operating it’s own direct artist to fan online store since we set it up in 2000. 2019’s Transform album peaked at 49 in the UK album chart to universal critical acclaim.

Tour Manager 1998- 2005

I have tour managed major tours across Europe, North America and Asia. I have also been stage manager and production manager at numerous festivals and multi artist events. A tour manager involves working in an incredibly volatile and quickly changing environment. In this role I often had to deal with multiple challenges simultaneously!
